| Facilities help in the hospitals |
 |
As we feel any child's visit to hospital
should be as comfortable as possible, we fund a range
of Ronald McDonald Family Facilities within Hospitals.
RMHC has funded four major projects in hospitals around
Australia – Sydney Children's Hospital, Illawarra
Regional Hospital, Wollongong, Northern Hospital, Victoria
and Women's and Children's Hospital, Adelaide. They meet specific family needs and provide practical
and direct assistance during treatment.
Facilities available include children's wards, children's
treatment clinics and RMHC Care-By-Parent Units like the
one in Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick.
The first RMHC Care-By-Parent Unit, at Sydney Children's Hospital, was opened in 1998
and provides accommodation for the families of seriously
ill children who no longer require on-ward treatment,
but who still need hospital care. It features 12 rooms,
a 7-room parents' retreat, a Sleep Studies Unit and offers
24-hour nursing and parent support education on post treatment
care. RMHC contributed $1.1 million to the refurbishment
and development of the Unit. |
